ABOUT THE BPO
The Dobie Band Parents Organization (BPO) is an independent, federal 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. The Dobie BPO was formed to provide assistance and resources to the Dobie Band program, directors, and students beyond those allocated by the school district. This includes financial support through fundraising and the administration of student band and colorguard fees, and volunteer services including: chaperones, uniforms, food and refreshments, equipment loading/moving, trailer maintenance, etc. Without the efforts of the Dobie BPO, the band program would not be able to accomplish its goal of providing the best band experience possible for your student. Every single parent in the Dobie Band family is automatically a member of the Dobie Band Parents Organization!
MEETINGS
The BPO meets regularly on the second Monday of every month (except July) at 7:00pm. The meetings are held at the Dobie Main Band Hall unless otherwise noted.
VOLUNTEERING
One of the greatest responsibilities of the Dobie BPO is to coordinate volunteers for the different activities in which the band participates. The band needs a wide variety of volunteer assistance for all football games and contests, trailer maintenance, tractor-trailer drivers, hospitality and concessions for UIL and TMEA contests hosted at Dobie, fundraising, and other special events. Without the generous donation of time and effort by our parent volunteers, the Dobie Band program would not be able to maintain its current level of activity.
Currently, we are seeking volunteers to support the administration of traditional BPO fundraising activities for the upcoming school year. We are always in need of volunteers in all other areas. If you are interested in serving in any capacity, please click here to contact the Dobie Band Parents Organization.
DONATIONS
As a 501(c)(3), donations made to the Dobie BPO are tax-deductible. Monetary donations of any size are accepted, and we also have various levels of corporate and individual sponsorship available. Depending on your level of sponsorship, benefits may include acknowledgment in concert programs and/or business name and/or logo on the side of the band semi-trailer, which is highly visible in the community at all football games and band contests.
